The evening features the premiere screening of director Seyi Adebanjo’s film OYA: SOMETHING HAPPENED ON THE WAY to WEST AFRICA! Oya follows the filmmaker’s journey as a queer gender non-conforming Nigerian who connects with Òrìṣà tradition and the powerful legacy of their great grandmother, Chief Moloran Ìyá Ọlọ́ya. OYA is lyrical, interwoven with cultural nuances, ritual, interviews, chanting and narration.
