In my post on February 27, 2017, In Defense of Rachel Dolezal—white woman who identifies as black, now jobless, may soon be homeless, I described my uneasiness with which both black and white communities have spoken ill about Rachel Dolezal. Up until reading the article about Rachel's plight, I knew only peripheral bits and pieces about her from news reports and the vitriolic responses I've read a number of black and white individuals. After reading the article, I called a couple of my friends to ask them what they thought about Rachel Dolezal.

Today, I found myself feeling unsettled as I thought about President-elect Donald Trump and how much sadness and anxiety his election has brought into many of our lives. As an African-American, I take it personal that a large segment of the United States of America citizenry think that they are justified in denying me and my fellow African Americans the right to live out our lives in the same manner they aspire to. Without conscience, they continue to disregard how much blood, sweat and tears we have endured, and, continue to endure to this day.
