Dorothy Donegan at the White House
I remember seeing Dorothy Donegan several times performing a number of times (downtown NYC), in the 1990s — she was an aging super talented jazz pianist. Whenever I came to one of her shows, she was always glad to see me. We often talked during her pauses between sessions. Mesmerizing, for me and the audience as well, was her repertoire and her often lively comedic delivery. My lasting memory of Dorothy is sitting with her on one of those evenings while she fretted over whether or not she would be paid that night.
(April 6, 1922 – May 19, 1998). Dorothy Donegan live at the White House.
