Chicago native, Mya B. attempts to answer this question in her new documentary Afraid of Dark. Examining two of the most prevalent stereotypes about the black man—”brute” and “Mandingo”. Afraid of Dark challenges these misrepresentations and exposes their effect on our worldview.
