Innovative Cultural Advocacy Fellowship
CARRIBBEAN CULTURE CENTER AND AFRICAN DIASPORA INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES
Innovative Cultural Advocacy seeks to involve and increase the number of culturally diverse advocates as emerging leaders in the fields of cultural arts, public policy, and advocacy. Fellow-participants will engage through an in- depth series of collaborative exchanges, and assignments that will nurture innovative thinking, situate them in understanding historical contexts of the arts public policy field, and provide opportunities to meet those leaders in the field that highlight and utilize language and framework models critical of the existing inequity apparent within cultural arts public policy.
Criteria: 25 to 40-year-old art and cultural professionals; must be endorsed by a current or recent employer or mentor; and can commit to attend all monthly gatherings.
- When: Saturdays from 10AM to 3:30 PM on June 6th, June 27th, July 18th, August 15th, and September 19th
- Where: Various cultural arts locations around New York City.
- Fellows will gain the following: Access to senior-level arts field professionals through monthly Saturday sessions, held at various NYC cultural institutionsA program curriculum highlighting arts advocacy theory and historical practice rooted in principles from the Civil Rights era, in addition to recent community-based and progressive arts movements, towards their development of arts equity strategies.
