Saluting Multifaceted Artist Charles Weldon

Charles Weldon was a multifaceted artist who as actor, director and songwriter made significant contributions to the world of theater. Throughout his career, Weldon acted in a variety of plays that showcased his versatility and talent. He performed with prestigious companies, the Negro Ensemble Company.and the New Federal Theatre. His performances captivated audiences and earned him critical acclaim. A hand full of plays he acted in included “A Raisin in the Sun” “Fences,” and “The Piano Lesson.” His performances were always captivating and memorable.
In addition to his acting career Weldon also directed several successful productions. He had a keen eye for detail and a strong vision for bringing stories to life on stage. Some of the plays he directed included “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” and “Two Trains Running.” Audiences and critics alike praised Weldon’s directing skills for the innovation they brought to each production.
Furthermore, Charles Weldon was also a talented songwriter who wrote several songs that added depth and emotion to plays he was involved in. His songs were often poignant reflections on themes of love loss and redemption. Some of his most notable songs include “The Sun Is Gonna Shine Again” and “I Got Love”
Weldon’s passion for education led him to become an educator later on in his career. He taught acting classes at New York University and Columbia University.
