TPFF is honored to get a sneak preview of the soon to be release BLACK SALT directed by Owen Ratliff/Ben Ramsey. Friday opens up with AN INTERVIEW WITH MARTIN LIGHT a film directed by Digger Kohler about a college professor accused of assassinating a Supreme Court Justice is interviewed in prison. On Saturday, TPFF will revisit AMERICAN BEATBOXER: the Docu-Series directed by TPFF Alumni—Manauvaskar Kublall, which has been accepted into the Harvard Hip Hop Archive and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives. This screening will be followed with a special Q & A and Beatbox presentation. Sunday presents the groundbreaking film POVERTY INC. directed by Gary Null and Valerie Van Cleve, which examines the influence of corporate globalization and exposing the destructive nature of our modern financial system. Poverty, Inc. offers a sobering look into how the predatory economic policies instituted by America’s new elite class have contributed to the nation’s descent into Third World status.
The Closing Night Film LAST, LOVE, LOST, directed by Jahmar Hill, addresses the issue of domestic violence. It tells of a young man, Antonio (Jahmar Hill) who is awakened from a one- yearlong coma after being shot by his father while trying to break up a domestic dispute between him and his mother. He learns that his father committed suicide after murdering his mother. Antonio later becomes the night in shining armor to a stranger, Vanessa (Toni Belafonte) when he steps in to defend her from her abusive boyfriend.
