Birthday Greetings Carmen Lundy
🍾Carmen Latretta Lundy, born November 1, 1954, is a native of Miami, Florida where she earned a reputation on the local jazz circuit before moving to New York City in 1978, with college degree in hand. For three decades she has been a singing beacon in the world of jazz. We could compare her with all those great names but why bother, when she has so distinctively made a great name for herself doing it her way, making her own compositions jazz standards. She is a 2021 Grammy nominee for her 15th album Modern Ancestors for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Her previous release 2017’s Code Noir, debuted #6 on the Billboard Jazz Chart. The singer/songwriter has published over 150 songs, one of the few jazz vocalists to accomplish such a distinction. Her compositions have been recorded by such musicians as Kenny Barron, Ernie Watts, Terri Lynn Carrington and Regina Carter. She has performed and recorded with her brother bassist Curtis Lundy.
