Birthday Greetings Perfect Angel Minnie Riperton Rudolph
🎂Minnie Riperton Rudolph was born November 8, 1947 on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois. The life-cut-too-short singer-songwriter is best known for her four-octave soprano range — rumored to have broken glasses. The 1975 single “Lovin’ You” from her certified Gold album “Perfect Angel” (Epic Records) was a mega hit. From her next album “Adventures in Paradise”, a promotional clip was shot with her in the presence of a lion. Obviously the lion wasn’t overjoyed with her prescence — it attacked the singer. Fortunately Minnie she was not hurt.
While living in Chicago, she earned recognition at Chess Records as a background singer for such artists as Chuck Berry, Fontella Bass and Etta James. She can be heard also on Stevie Wonder’s hit songs “Creepin” and “Ordinary Pain” on Songs in the Key of Life, 1976. In 1974. she recorded “Take A Little Trip” featuring with Stevie Wonder.
Minnie was the first celebrity to publicly announce her fatal breast cancer diagnosis, subsequently, becoming a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society. Her big warm smile melted hearts and incredible voice left us much too soon.
