Happy Birthday to our brilliant actor Alfre Woodard
🎂Alfre Woodard was born on November 8, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is a prominent theater, television and screen actor; and producer in Hollywood; and committed political activist. She is the recipient of four Primetime Emmy Awards; a Golden Globe Award; three Screen Actors Guild Awards; nominations for an Academy Award and two Grammy Awards.
Alfre Woodard is considered one of the most versatile and accomplished actors of her generation. She follows in the footsteps of her predecessors Hattie McDaniel, Eartha Kitt, Dorothy Dandridge, Ruby Dee and Cicely Tyson. A pivotal point in her career came as a result of her performance in the Off-Broadway play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf in 1977. Woodard starred opposite Kevin Hart in the drama film Fatherhood; has been cast in Netflix’s action thriller The Gray Man — it has a production budget of $200 million — the most expensive film ever made by Netflix.
Alfre’s career began in 1975 in the off broadway production Me and Bessie. Over the past 46 years, it’s of no consequence what medium she performs in, or, the numerous roles in which she’s cast, the audience is always rewarded with a hell of a performance.
