R&B Festival at MetroTech
Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires
Thursday July 2, 2015, Noon
MetroTech Commons
10 MetroTech Roadway
Brooklyn
From his humble beginnings as a James Brown impersonator to his explosion onto the festival circuit with a knockout performance at South by Southwest, Charles Bradley has woven deep ache into deep grooves. Buoyed by the retro-funk sounds of his Extraordinaires, Bradley pleads, cajoles, and screams through his performances, delivering a wall of sound that is equal parts anguish and love.
Nothing says summer like free outdoor music. For over two decades, BAM has brought its popular lunchtime concert series to MetroTech Commons. Spanning R&B, funk, gospel, soul, jazz, and world music, this year’s lineup is packed with new voices and established masters alike, performing Thursdays at noon. Past highlights have included Jimmy Cliff, Booker T & the M.G.’s, Los Lobos, Toumani Diabate, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Toots and the Maytals, the Wailers, Maceo Parker, and many more. Join us and groove your way through the summer.
