Sarah Dash Testimonials
Dear Dash Family,
My reflections on my interactions with Sarah:
I was a little surprised, when I found the photo, at how long ago it was taken with Sarah (1978). It certainly doesn’t feel like it was 43 years ago. We were not friends in the sense of friendships, but we crossed paths every couple of years. Friends Barbara Harris and Kenneth Reynolds were somehow the linchpins.
The last time I saw Sarah was When I visited New York City in 2010. It was then when Barbara invited me to see Sarah perform at The Laurie Beechman Theatre on the Westside of Manhattan.
After Sarah’s performance, we exchanged a couple of words. I told her how much I enjoyed the show and she thanked me for coming. The exchange was neutral and it was as if it was the first time we had ever spoken. The devil in me prodded me to say “You don’t remember me, but we once had something going.” Sarah looked at me and snapped “I don’t think so. I remember all of the men I’ve had something to do with.” She turned and walked away. Shocked at her response? Yes, of course I was referring to the photo we took at her 1978 “Sinner Man” record party.
But our paths crossed once again a couple of months ago via telephone, emails, etc. I’ve been planning to publish on gospel music project — Barbara Harris suggested that I call Sarah and ask her if she could help in putting it together. “She is quite familiar with the topic,” I was told, “she grew up in the church — her father was a pastor.”
We both tried to connect with each other, but we were only successful in exchanging missed phone calls and text messages.
